Router IP Address


Do you need the IP address of your router to configure or set it up?  How do you find the IP address of your router?  Here is a simple step-by-step guide on how to find the ip address of your router.

  1. Run the Command prompt in windows. You can do this by going to Start > Run (This is the search field in Vista or Windows 7).  Enter “cmd” and enter.
  2. In the black command line box, type “ipconfig” into it and press enter.  There should be a line called “Default Gateway”.  This is your router IP address.  The image on this page shows 192.168.1.1 (yours may not be the same)

  3. To get to the router, simply open up an internet browser and type the number into the address bar. You should be prompted for a password.
    • Linksys router login is username: admin and password: admin.
    • Netgear router login is usually username: admin and password: password.
